Transformation to … ”Time Attack” (English)
By LarsEscort Cosworth ”Time Attack”
The car is built as a Time Attack Car with no shortcuts. Light weight is
top priority.
When the project started to derail properly, we made the decision that
we’ll take the time needed so we don’t have to make any compromises.
Parts have been replaced during the time, including Kevlar WRC wings and a
kevlar hood, this because it started to pop up more and more ”WRC copies”.
Contact was taken with Kristian at Sportvagnskonsult, we drew up some
guidelines on how I had thought the car should be. They were held for
about four weeks…
From beginning we planned a re-design of the front wings and widening of
the original steel rear fenders. Roof and hood would be cast in carbon
fiber. New chassis would be built with CrMo control arms and new hubs,
brakes would be mounted, etc.
After some talking back and forth between me and Krille it started to
derail properly.
New plan: Time Attack all the way!
Body will be as light as possible, the goal is to save approximately
100kg, the whole body would be cast in carbon fiber. A V-pattern in the
fabric will run in the middle over the car, and the carbon fabric pattern
on the whole car will run in the same direction everywhere. The design is
made by Kristian together with my inputs.
The widening will be 3D scanned and reflected in a CAD program. After that
CNC milling of the plugs for the opposite side will be made out of
polystyrene with 8mm PUR on the surface by Macromould in Kopparberg.
This gives body moulds with perfect symmetry and a few 1/100mms of
precision at fixed prices, something that no other custom builders in
Sweden offers!
The chassis will consist of double triangular control arms all around,
everything calculated by well known Swedish chassis engineer Jonas
Jarlmark (who among others work with Rickard Rydell’s WTCC team and Flash
Engineering).
The brand of the suppression is yet to be decided.
The car will primarily be running on 19 ”magnesium wheels from Enkei with
Center Bolt hubs.
The engine spec. is not entirely finished.
But to begin with the cylinderhead is built by Mike Billet at RacingGreen
Motorsport.
Factory New 200 engineblock with ”WRC” spec. and a Verdi drysump oilpump.
The rest is being planned.
More info will come up during the buildup.
Sincerely, Lars G.
